Second, I never complained the series was misogynistic or anything like that so don't get the wrong idea. That was just one thing she could add to the roster on top of everything else. The point though is that there are still far too little female characters and even less female protagonists in smash. Of course there is going to be more male characters when there are more male protagonists in nintendo games. That is she would help fill many niches in the roster. It was not the only reason she deserves to be in it but one of many. So for them to not have anything lined up in the near future worries meДЇirst off her being a female helps distinguish her from many of the other characters. Never before has their company had this much publicity and popularity. In my mind, I'd imagine this is the best shape WayForward has ever been financially. But if that is not the case, I can't help but wonder what projects has them so tangled up. I'm hoping and praying that the reason they've been so inactive is because they MAY have a Shantae reveal and they want that to be the biggest thing for everyone to focus on regarding their company. I would happily expand my WayForward library outside of just the Shantae series.

I know all these leaks are like 'Ken and steeeeeve', but I've got more faith in the evidence. I'm also really, really excited for the situational evidence of her in Smash, specifically the silence by Wayforward and the inclusion of K.Rool, Chrom, Ridley and Dark Samus, even Shovel Knight as an assist. Add in the fact that Cristina Vee is by far my favorite voice actor and I would absolutely be playing her hardcore as a character loyalist (hopefully together with Isaac/Felix) in Smash Ultimate. However, I saw Wayforward's campaign for Shantae back during the ballot and actually voted for her along with Isaac and Sami from Advance Wars. I've enjoyed every game (Pirate's Curse is the best imo), backed Half Genie Hero, but haven't loved it to the point of trumpeting my support for the franchise like I've done for Golden Sun. I've actually played every Shantae game ever released, due to fate and randomness in my childhood that left me with a GBC and only Pokemon Silver and Shantae. Throw me on the supporter list if you've got one.
